    • Identified as the son of William and Amelia (Emily) Barnes of Kingsclere: Thomas was born at Kingsclere (1851, 1861 and 1871 censuses); a Thomas son of William and Amelia was baptised there on 11 Sep 1836; in 1841 Thomas, 4, was in William and Emley Barns’s household; and in 1851 he was a servant at Old Farm, on the same census page as William and Emily. No record yet seen names his father as an adult (the 1856 marriage certificate would).
